Python/ C++ developer (image processing, OpenCV)

Essensium is an expanding product development company that designs, produces, sells and provides service for Essensium real time Positioning System for forklifts (EPS), based on computer vision & AI technology (SafeTrack TM). We are a solid and healthy company with brilliant people, flat no-nonsense culture. We do everything in-house, 100% in Belgium.
We are looking for a Python/ C++ developer with experience in image processing (OpenCV) to join our R&D team. This function offers a broad and interesting view on our state-of-the-art products and will allow you to grow in responsibilities over the coming years.
- Location: Leuven, hybrid mode (2d/week in the office, 3d from home). We are looking for someone who lives in Belgium or is willing to move to Belgium. Fully remote is not an option.
- Contract: full time permanent
- Start date: Autumn 2024 or spring 2025
- Main tech stack: Python, C++, OpenCV
- Education: degree in mathematics is nice to have
Skills and tech stack
- C++11 (or newer) and Python (minimum 2-3 years of professional experience)
- Expertise with OpenCV tooling and libraries
- Computer vision (conventional image processing and analysis)
- Ideally have a solid background in math. You understand optimization algorithms, linear algebra, matrices and 3D coordinate transformations.
- You work systematically and make extensive use of version control
- Linux and Git
- You are fluent in English
What you will do
- Designing and improving computer vision algorithms
- Detecting and tracking structures in camera images
- Implementing these algorithms in production quality C++
- Developing tools to automate image analysis, quality control and mapping
- Automated testing

Working environment
You’ll be working in Leuven in a small international team of highly skilled developers where you’ll develop and take ownership of part of a complex architecture for a computer vision product.
