A warm welcome to Niels Pereboom, 28 years old, and comes from Deventer in the Netherlands. He currently lives in Aadorp, The Netherlands and studied International Trade at ROC van Twente in Almelo and started working right after that at the age of 20. For the past 8 years, he has been involved in sales and has built his own team, growing both professionally and personally.

Niels is passionate about his work and has always been focused on sales, and his journey has seen him grow significantly in his career. He became acquainted with Boris (our VP Sales) and Karien (our Sales director BE, LUX and international) through projects in his previous work. He has always kept an eye on Essensium, following the company’s progress and getting to know us better over time. And now he’s happy to join our team and we are thrilled to see what we can achieve together.

Can you tell us a bit about your responsibilities?

My responsibility is to put Essensium and our SafeTrack solution on the map in the Netherlands. Simply put, my main focus is on acquiring new clients and building strong partnerships with key players, such as forklift manufacturers and dealers.

Previously, I was the team lead at my previous work, where I had overall responsibility. Now, it’s even more exciting as I’m focusing entirely on sales! I get to be hands-on, driving sales and building relationships directly. It’s a great challenge that I’m fully dedicated to.

What’s the best thing about your job?

The best thing about my job is that Essensium offers an incredibly innovative product that is still relatively unknown in the Netherlands (it’s only been around for 2.5 years). It’s fantastic to see people’s reactions when I introduce them to our solution and technology—it feels like we’re bringing something truly revolutionary to the table. That gives me a huge amount of energy!

What I also really appreciate is the constant drive for innovation. It’s inspiring to see what Essensium has in the pipeline for the future. I’m excited for what’s to come!

On top of that, I truly feel at home in the Essensium team. It’s a group of warm, dedicated colleagues who are passionate and hardworking, always striving to achieve our goals and mission. It’s a great environment to be part of!

What are the biggest challenges in your work?

One of the biggest challenges in my work right now is that I’m still in the introductory phase, so there are times when I can’t yet do everything completely independently. This is understandable, as there’s a lot to learn and grasp, especially since the technology is still quite new to me.

Additionally, we’re in a phase where the company is heavily focused on acquiring clients in the Netherlands, identifying the right customers who can truly benefit from our solution. This requires a lot of time, patience, and energy, but it’s this challenge that motivates and drives me!

Since our product is not yet widely known in the Netherlands, reaching out to cold leads is a key part of my job, and it takes a lot of time and effort. Sometimes it’s a tough reality when immediate success doesn’t come, but I make sure to celebrate the small victories along the way, as they are a sign of progress!

Which things are on your bucket list – what do you absolutely want to have done?

Professionally, my goal is to achieve great success at Essensium and fully realize our growth ambitions! I’d also love to build a team in the Netherlands, which would be an amazing challenge. Within the next year, I hope to have a project engineer in the Netherlands – that’s my dream. I look forward to becoming busier, hiring new people, and training them along the way.

On a personal level, the most important thing for me is to stay healthy – that’s my top priority. I also hope to have children one day, as I think it would be an incredible experience. Another goal of mine is to build my dream home, something I’ve been dreaming about for a long time. I’ve also always dreamed of having a second home abroad – that would be an amazing adventure! Overall, my goal is to make the most of life, both personally and professionally.

What do you do in your free time?

In my free time, work is still something I’m passionate about, but I also have a love for good food and drinks – I’m quite the foodie! I enjoy cooking at home, but I also like to visit great restaurants for a change. Spending time with family and friends is really important to me, and I love going on trips with them whenever possible.

Sun holidays are essential for me to truly relax and recharge. Besides that, I enjoy walking in nature and am getting back into sports, like running and going to the gym. I’d love to play more golf and get into football again, aiming to become more active overall.
