The challenge
At Livlina’s Sint-Niklaas site, more than 35 electric vehicles, including pallet trucks, reach trucks, and combi trucks, move through narrow aisles and high-traffic zones every hour. Standard safety rules and training remained essential, but the growing activity and mixed vehicle types made real-time risk prevention increasingly difficult.
Livlina needed a smarter, proactive safety system, one that could prevent accidents before they occurred, without slowing down operations.
The solution: Essensium SafeTrack
Essensium implemented SafeTrack, an AI-powered vision and positioning system designed to predict and prevent collisions between vehicles and pedestrians.
The deployment combined two complementary safety layers:

Vehicle-to-Vehicle Safety: All forklifts are connected. When two vehicles come dangerously close, they communicate automatically. A visual warning (orange) is triggered, followed by an automatic slowdown (red) to 1 km/h if needed.

Vehicle-to-Pedestrian Safety: Intelligent cameras recognize pedestrians in real time, creating a dynamic safety bubble. Vehicles automatically slow down when a person enters the detection zone, protecting workers without disrupting workflow.
Livlina evaluated several systems before choosing Essensium. SafeTrack stood out for its real-time detection, scalable software, and retrofit compatibility, allowing seamless integration across all brands and models of forklifts. A trusted equipment supplier also recommended Essensium after witnessing its performance at another large logistics site.
